Computer Scientist Who Loves Helping Students Improve Their Skills

Hi! I am currently a [non-nerd] Software Engineer; within a small Agile group, I build Windows desktop applications using technologies such as Object-Oriented C++, Boost and STL libraries, SQL, and XML. Before that, I had spent most of my adult life in academia, collecting degrees while doing research in Computer Engineering. I do not claim to be exceptionally smart, just a hard-working individual, which is why I like to help students who are not shining as they should. I believe anybody c... Read more

Ivy League PhD

I have a BS in "Computer Software" (meaning programming rather than hardware design). Most of my work for the BS was actually done at the Graduate level, which makes me eligible to teach CompSci at the college level according to most accrediting organizations. I have, in fact done so at five different colleges. Pascal was the language of choice when I was learning to program, so I had to learn it, and used it for many years until I switched to C++ and Java. It is a much better language than C for basic programming training, but lacks a standardized object oriented implementation. Read more

Patient and Enthusiastic Educator in Durham - SAT, writing, math, etc

In 2014, I graduated magna cum laude from Williams College, a small liberal arts school located in the mountains of Massachusetts, and earned a B. A. in Biology and History. I worked as a peer tutor and T.A. at Williams, helping students struggling in Biology 101, Biology, 102, and Botany courses. Since graduation, I have continued to teach in a variety of capacities: first, as a field instructor for Teton Science Schools, educating middle schoolers about the geology, biology, and ecology of ... Postdoctoral Research Fellow, UNC at Chapel Hill, SPSS Tutoring.

I am a health sciences scholar with a Master of Science degree and have engaged in teaching students for more than 5 years. I would teach them health as well as SPSS statistical data analysis software. Being in academia at the university level, I believe, makes a person better entitled to engage in educational activities and teaching given the experience already taken, the academic and educational background, and the ability and experience in reaching out to students and being able to communi... Mathematics - AP Calculus through Differential Equations

My favorite part of working as a math TA has always been interacting with my students, explaining concepts in different ways so that they make sense. I have worked with classes including Calculus 1, Calculus 2, and Differential Equations at Duke University for the past six semesters, where I graduated with distinction in Mathematics. I have also privately tutored for Calculus (AP and college classes), Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. As a TA where I lead discussion sessions, t... Read more

Math Tutoring

Hi! My name is Amer! I have always been told that I am very patient and excellent at explaining things to people. That is very true. I believe that you need to understand each individual and their learning process. I enjoy taking the time to make sure you understand the math problem and not just how you are solving the problem. I excel in algebra and pre calculus. I have volunteered my time at colleges to tutor other classmates to make sure they understand the class work. The students ... Read more

Austin

Middle/High School Math and Science Tutor

My name is Austin. I am a college student at NC State University, currently pursuing a degree in animal science. I have always loved learning and I often thrive in a classroom environment. Through my years in school, I often found that classmates would complain about concepts I found to be straightforward. So I began assisting other students through various concepts. This gave me some easy, early tutoring experience, letting me teach topics but in a comfortable environment. As I began helping... Read more
