Dominique

Patient UCLA Grad English/Math Tutor with Credential

I have a degree in psychology and I also work with students who have ADHD. Students with ADHD struggle with focusing and completing assignments. Depending on the severity, setting up incentives such as rewards in stickers or prizes before beginning the activity can be helpful. Having the student repeat the directions and the time they are allotted helps them to stay focused. Using a timer and encouraging them to keep working is another strategy I use. If there is a lengthy assignment that takes an hour, I would split it up into 15 minutes interval and have the student take a break in between. Read more
