I am a certified special education teacher. I have experience with ADD/ADHD students, Aspberger's/ spectrum Disorder students and mild to moderate disabilities. ADD/ADHD students require a lot of patience and monitoring to keep them on task. They need assistance with organization and methods to keep themselves organized. Often these students miss important information in class as they have a classic tendency to hear only the first and last things said. Tutoring will provide the missing information to fill in those educational gaps. Read more

As someone who has learned to live with ADD/ADHD, I have become aware of the difficulty faced by children (and adults) who don't always live in a world where the classroom is set up for their style of learning. We ADD folks are hands-on experiencers; we learn by doing. I also believe that having ADD brings us advantages that others do not. Our ability to hyperfocus can be channeled when we are aware and learn how to make use of this unique ability. I have helped others cope with ADD, and I really do believe that I can teach you or your child to succeed with this challenge. Read more

Teaching is a large part of who I am. As a young girl, I was the “helper†in the classroom, the teacher when we played “school†and the go-to person in high school to proofread my classmates’ work. I became known as the grammar and spelling critic. So why not tutor? It's part of who I am. I love teaching and want to share my knowledge. My academic journey was long and winding and began in 2008 at the young age of 45 with Lesley University’s Bachelor's adult cohort program. The c... Read more

Math Fears Can Disappear! Let's Make Math Easier...
You should consider me as a tutor if your child struggles with math, or if your child needs help with learning how to solve word problems. I frequently introduce myself as someone who teaches math as a foreign language. Why? Because math IS a foreign language! Math has its own language, symbols and vocabulary that is unique to the subject. Some people adapt to learning languages better than others. Some do better learning math. I look at math as a puzzle, and help my students help unde... Read more
