I am an educator who is passionate about teaching students how to read and to help struggling readers overcome their reading difficulties. I have an Elementary (K-6) Teaching Certificate and a Reading Endorsement from the state of Florida. I am also in the process of finishing up my Master's degree in Reading Education, with a focus in Dyslexia. Before starting my master's degree, I was an elementary school teacher who taught reading, math, science, and social studies to 3rd and 4th graders. My degree in Reading Education allows me to understand best practices for teaching reading by being up-to-date on the research about the science of reading and best practices for instruction. My specialization in dyslexia allows me to understand the reading brain, and how to provide appropriate interventions to all students. Regardless if a student has a dyslexia diagnosis or not, it's important to have someone knowledgeable about assessments and interventions who will be able to create a plan specifically tailored to the student's needs and be able to follow through, and progress monitor appropriately.
