I am an enthusiastic, patient, and compassionate instructor, certified as a Teacher of English as a Second Language, Former Associate Professor as well as Program Leader of Energy Efficient Buildings Program, with over two decades of service in the field of architecture. I have five years of teaching experience at the university level, looking forward to teaching English to non-native speakers. I see ESL teachers as ambassadors of good to people who have been through a lot of hardship. Our job is to present the best of America, and the freedom to learn in an environment of acceptance.
I teach reading, grammar, pronunciation, writing and vocabulary using games, readers, YouTube and workbooks at the beginning and low intermediate level as well as provide Skill Level Testing and other assessment tools when appropriate.
I hold myself to a high standard. I often ask for feedback and I never bill for a lesson in which the student or parent is not completely satisfied with my tutoring. I try to be flexible with my time. While I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I offer makeup classes. To ensure that students have a quiet and comfortable study space in which to work with me, I have a tutoring space in my home for private lessons. I am also happy to travel to another location if that is more convenient for the student.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you learn English.
