Every student deserves the best education possible. Although we might not be certain about what the upcoming school year will look like, I am committed to creating quality lessons and making each student feel respected, valued, and safe.

I come from an Elementary teaching background. Most recently, I taught in a 2nd grade classroom, and I have also worked with kindergarten, first, and fourth grade students.

I always find ways to make math fun in my classroom, and I will do the same as a tutor. I believe that the best way to understand a new math concept is by tackling it hands-on. Some of the activities one of my students might experience during a math tutoring session include: using personal whiteboards, creating numbers with base ten blocks, using counters to add/ subtract, and math games!

Although I was a second grade teacher, each student was at a different reading level. I understand the various stages of learning to read and how to recognize the areas in which a student is strong as a reader and other areas in which a student may need more support.

Reading begins with phonics! With so many letter sounds, vowel types and combinations, a student needs someone who is familiar with phonics instruction. I have used a number of different phonics programs as a teacher and I have picked up many tricks and strategies to help each student improve their reading skills.
