I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science at UWMC in Wausau, WI. I have undergraduate degrees in CS and Math from UWEC, and have taken courses in Business Administration from the University of Maryland. I have an Masters in Information Systems from Southern California.

I tutored during college, and have done tutoring on the side while teaching.

I can start tutoring you immediately in java online. I use Skype to talk to the student and TeamViewer so I can connect to the student's computer to see their code in whatever editor they are using. Tutoring has been done on PCs, Macs, and UNIX machines. Editors used included JGrasp, BlueJay, TextPad, Eclipses, and others.

I am a reader for the AP CS exam and have provided tutoring for AP CS students for the last 5 years.

Students who receive this tutoring say that it is better than face-to-face because of the convenience and that they are focused on the code and not the person.

In addition, I have played and coached various sports, including Baseball, Softball, Football, Tennis, Soccer, and Volleyball.

Great java tutoring resource

This was my first experience using an online tutoring source. I was a little skeptical because I wasn't sure how the tutor would be able to explain complex Java concepts remotely. After one session with Mark that has all been put to rest. With the use of various software applications and technology Mark is able to appear as if he is in the room next to me. He has a great personality and is very patient. This accompanied with his wealth of knowledge in various subject areas has made this a truly rewarding experience.

Java tutor

"Outstanding Java tutor! They expertly guided my son through his assignment, clarifying concepts along the way. The patience and depth of knowledge were commendable. Not only did my son complete his task, but he also gained a stronger grasp of Java. We'd definitely seek their help again. Highly recommended!"

Knowledgeable, thorough

My son doesn’t give praise very often, so when he said he would like Mark’s assistance again, I knew he was something special. He was thorough, patient and very knowledgeable about AP Computer Science. My son’s teacher was also impressed and this was after only one lesson. I would definitely recommend Mark to any person struggling in AP Computer Science. Thanks Mark!

Patient and very good teacher

He is very passionate in the way he teaches and I understand it clearly. If not, I’d ask him about the subject or search it up. I’ve learned with him around 2.5 months and it’s going very well.

Exceeded standards above and beyond

I had a javaFx homework basically I had to make a temperature converter from Fahrenheit to Celsius using a slider, I had to put it in a MVC design. I suck at coding and mark came to the rescue and help me fix the code. He made a miracle and in the process I learned a lot. Because of it I know now how to debug, how to pair the javaFx fxml file to the Java controller and the model. Just like a great programmer he took one step at a time fixing all my horrible code and teaching me what I did wrong. At the end It was awesome to have him help me out. He is the man!! Mark was fast as smooth and smooth as fast. Highly recommended him to others.
