I taught for the Mission school district from 1990-1999. I also worked with students for several years at Sylvan Learning Center in McAllen.
I like children and enjoy helping them learn because being successful in school helps students be successful in life. I also like helping students gain confidence as they overcome their obstacles.
I love literature and strive to instill that love in others. Reading, writing and grammar came easy to me throughout my school career.

I majored in English and took linguistics at the university level. I graduated cum laude, which is a prestigious award. I also minored in Mass Communications which entailed news writing/journalism.
Besides English and Communications degrees, I also completed ACP educational courses and passed the professional educators exam. This allowed me to become a certified Elementary Bilingual educator.
Spanish is my first language but I never wanted to speak slang. I wanted to speak "correct" Spanish so I took Spanish I in high school. That allowed me to improve my Spanish language.
Even though my certification is in Elementary Bilingual Education, I am able to help students through their high school and university classes. I have helped university students with their papers and I even help an assistant professor with her writing techniques.
I look forward to helping you improve your reading and writing abilities as well as improving your grades.
