I hold a bachelor's in Middle School Education with a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Wisconsin Platteville and a master's degree in Biological Sciences: Science Teaching Biology (Integrative Biology) from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. Having a teaching certificate in the state of Illinois for Biological Sciences grades 9-12 and Elementary Education grades k-9 has given me various teaching experiences throughout all content and grade levels. With this education, I have taught 7th grade for four years at Swansboro Middle School in Swansboro, North Carolina, and seven years teaching grades 6-8th with Athens Community Schools in Athens, Illinois.

Throughout my eleven years of being a professional educator, I learned various skills including creating lesson plans, maintaining a productive classroom through consistency and stability, assessing students on their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, communicating with parents/guardians on the student's progress, prepare for standardized tests required by the state, use differentiation and rigor in instruction, and understand what students go through in and outside of the classroom.

As most of my experience has been through middle school/junior high-level students, it is my professional goal to teach high school-level science courses such as Biology, be a professor for a junior college or university, develop a curriculum, or possess a job in biological science research. I am extremely confident with eleven years of professional teaching experience I have what it takes to qualify for this position as
