Hello! My name is Allison and I graduated with Honors and Distinction from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minors in Psychology and History. I graduated with a 3.96 GPA after taking many STEM courses. I am currently attending the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Masters of Genetic Counseling program.
Throughout my time at Purdue, I worked in the Academic Success Center as a Peer Success Coach where I assisted students in techniques to be a successful student. Throughout my sessions with students, I focused on time management, organization, and study plans. I had many students that were also Biology majors and I assisted more specifically with their classes. I understand how overwhelming STEM courses are and that is where I am here to help! I also worked as a Teaching Intern for three Biology lab courses where I assisted first and second-year students throughout their lab classes providing answers to content questions and assisting with the steps to perform the labs.
One of the ways I have learned material myself throughout my years in school has been through teaching and explaining which resulted in me helping many of my peers during my courses. I believe there are many ways to understand content and that each student has a different learning style that we can adjust to to ensure they are successful in their specific course!
