Throughout my life, I have always been a dedicated student. Currently, I am applying to medical school. I recently obtained a Masters in Biomedical Sciences through a joint George Mason University and Georgetown School of Medicine program. I have a strong background in general biology, physiology, and microbiology from my graduate and undergraduate work. Moreover, throughout high school and college I excelled in my writing assignments.
I have retained knowledge of Spanish grammar conventions and vocabulary due to taking courses from 7th grade to my junior year of college. I was a Spanish classroom tutor for The Preuss School UCSD where I assisted 7th-12th grade students with their homework and projects. In particular, I enjoyed getting to know the students’ individual interests and addressing their concerns throughout the quarter. I found helping the beginning Spanish students with their oral and written language development to be the most fulfilling aspect of my experience.
As a tutor, I will adapt my teaching to the student’s individual needs and focus on developing study strategies. During the initial meeting I will assess the student’s concerns and tailor my services to ensuring that they will excel in their coursework. I am completely open to feedback. I will also share techniques that I have found to be highly beneficial in high school, college, and graduate school with the students.
I have a highly flexible schedule outside of the weekends (I am currently taking an EMT training course that will run until December 22nd 2013). Overall, I will be dedicated in aiding students and use my abilities to better their learning.
