Bio

Hello, I'm Maret! I graduated from Vassar College in 2018 with a BA in psychology and minors in education and Greek and Roman studies. I received my elementary teacher certification from New York in 2019 and my Massachusetts elementary teaching license in 2023. I've known I wanted to be a teacher since high school, but even before that I was helping classmates and younger students in school.

Hello, I'm Maret! I graduated from Vassar College in 2018 with a BA in psychology and minors in education and Greek and Roman studies. I received my elementary teacher certification from New York in 2019 and my Massachusetts elementary teaching license in 2023. I've known I wanted to be a teacher since high school, but even before that I was helping classmates and younger students in school.
I approach tutoring differently to teaching. I consider tutoring to be a supplement to a student's primary education, so I prefer to connect my tutoring sessions to what my student is learning in school. Tutoring is also a one-on-one experience, often focused on a specific subject. Therefore, I tailor my tutoring to the needs of the student. I welcome input from students and parents about what resources and teaching methods are most helpful to the student. In general, I try to make make subjects concrete and fun for my students.
I have experience working with whole classes, small groups, and one-on-one. I have taught all the core elementary subjects, but am most experienced with math and literacy. As part of my teacher training, I tutored a third-grader in reading and writing for a year. I have been tutoring students with Wyzant since June of 2020, teaching math, literacy and science.

Knowledge, fun and patient tutor

My 4th grade daughter absolutely loves Maret. We have been working with her for a full year now twice a week for an hour. She is well versed on all elementary subjects. We have done math, writing, reading and science with Maret. She has been very flexible on changing topics if it’s what the student needs at that time. My daughters math grades have been all A’s all Year long and my daughter now LOVED math thanks to Maret. I highly recommend Maret.
