Bio

Tutored for Olympic College. Started with Organic Chemistry and expanded to include Algebra through Calculus and most of the sciences. I was well liked by most of my students and was asked by them to help with other subjects (such as English or Music) that I had to decline.

Mostly my working premise is that the student can learn the material. It is up to me to find a way of presentation that works with the student's background. I use the Socratic method a lot, asking the student questions...

Mostly my working premise is that the student can learn the material. It is up to me to find a way of presentation that works with the student's background. I use the Socratic method a lot, asking the student questions and building on the response.

I did some Skin diving from 1966 to 1975, and back packing from 1969 to 1975, mostly in the Olympics. I've also done some sailing, both cruising and racing. I managed to place in top three a few time in the local races. I have taught others how to sail. I have some photography experience, including some amateur Astronomy photos of the Hale-Bop comet and other sky features.

I am located in Bremerton. So, working with students in King county would be too expensive in travel time and cost. Sorry.

Knowledgeable and paitent

Despite the worksheet the school sends home Michael was still able to give my son the fundamentals of algebra and geometry. He gave him a few tricks in how to remember multiplication tables. Even drew out the times table to take home so he can use it 🙂.

Jenacia, 2 lessons with Michael

Very knowledgeable and motivating.

It was my daughter’s first meeting with Michael and she felt comfortable with his teaching style. Hope she’ll get more motivation on learning AP chemistry concepts.

Very nice guy

Mike arrived early and spent 2 hours helping my daughter with her organic chemistry. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain it. He was very patient and kind. Will use again!!

Chloe , 1 lesson with Michael

Very patient and understanding

He took great time to help explain the material. I really liked his post session response to a question I wrestled with for some time, even after our session was completed. Thank you Michael.

Great First Lesson

My son's first lesson with Michael went very well and he's scheduled for more. Michael came to our house, arrived on-time and quickly established a good rapport with my son.

Great Statistics tutor

Michael is teaching me how to understand statistics. What I like is his patience and knowledge regrading statistics. I rather not say until I complete the course so for now I'll give three stars.

C, 4 lessons with Michael

Kind and patient tutor

After his first tutoring session with Michael, my son said he wished Michael was his teacher. He put my son at ease, and quickly brought Geometry into focus. Looking forward to continuing the work with Michael!

Anthony, 1 lesson with Michael

Patient and helpful

My son told me he really liked Michael for his kind and patient approach to helping him understand. He has seen many tutors and this is the first one he asked to see on a regular basis.

Knows calculus from several different angles

Extremely helpful. Several calculus concepts (chain rule, related rates, differentiating trig functions) were eluding me. He has a huge math background and explains it well to us muggles. Wouldn't want anyone else.
