I love teaching math, all kinds of math. I am a certified teacher for grades 1-12. I currently teach high school but have taught elementary and junior high in the past. I especially like tutoring small groups or one-on-one. When I taught 4th grade, I told my students to do their best and together we would get them to pass the TAKS test. That year everyone of my students passed the math portion of the the TAKS test.

Kind but is not knowledgeable enough to teach AP Calculus
While Etta was nice and quick to respond, she unfortunately cost us time and money not admitting that she did not possess AP Calculus knowledge. When we met Etta, she was on time and courteous. Unfortunately, on several occasions throughout the lesson my daughter had to show her how to do some of the problems. The only ones Etta knew how to do were the ones with the answer key, which my daughter could do on her at home. All of the problems that were not in the answer key, there was no help afforded to her and that's what my daughter need assistance with. I was very clear that my daughter goes to Paschal High School and is in AP Calculus A&B; Etta said she could help. My daughter is also taking a statistics course. She has a very heavy workload and that was an hour she could not afford to waste. Etta should have called the session and not charged us for our own time. This is the only reason I am writing the negative review: she charged us for an hour of our precious time. (We did try out another Wyzant tutor the following Sunday that was able to help her significantly and will be using him going forward.)

Really Helpful!
Etta is a really experienced, helpful Algebra tutor! She gave me lots of tips and methods I hadn’t learned before so that the concepts would click better in my brain. I feel more prepared for my exam because she helped me through specific practice problems I previously had a hard time understanding. She is kind, patient, and answered all my questions!

My daughter loved working with her. She was very patient and calm and helped my daughter a great deal. I would recommend her as a tutor for any student who is struggling.
