Hello, I'm Chris! I am a doctoral candidate that loves teaching and helping my students to succeed! I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Anthropology (Archaeological Sciences emphasis) and a Minor in Integrative Human Biology. I have also received a Masters in Anthropology and I am currently working on my PhD looking at the development and evolution of human knee joint biology. My passion for teaching has driven me to work as a tutor since high school, as well as a TA and laboratory instructor throughout college and graduate school, resulting in 8 years of tutoring and teaching experience. I enjoy creating a positive learning environment and I focus on using multiple methods to convey information to my students, including discussions, lectures, and study games. I have found that in doing this, my students are able to better learn and retain important information, allowing them to gather the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the academic environment.

Through my undergraduate and graduate degrees I have received trainings and knowledge on human anatomy, biology, evolution, archaeology, and history, for which I consistently received high marks (A's). During my time at graduate school, I have regularly taught human anatomy and TA'd for biological anthropology courses. Before that, I TA'd for archaeology classes several times during my undergraduate career, as well as worked as a tutor for the university. As a tutor I worked with students to help them improve their essay and exam scores in history, anthropology, and archaeology courses. All in all, the subjects I have previously taught or currently teach include Human Anatomy, Biological Anthropology, Human and Primate Evolution, Archaeology, History, English, and English as a Second Language (ESL).

Teaching is my passion and I love to see students succeed at their coursework. I am always happy to help out however I can, and am willing to work with parents or students to make the learning experience as informative and enjoyable

History

Anthropology

Anthropology

My BS in Anthropology required me to take courses that vastly improved my knowledge of human culture, evolution, biology, anatomy, and history. Not only did I pass all of these courses with high marks, allowing me to graduate magna cum laude, I also went back and spent time as a TA for some of them. This trend has continued into my graduate schooling, where I received my MA in Anthropology while working as a TA for biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, and human anatomy courses. Additionally, I have spent all of my undergraduate and graduate education (8 years total) working on various research projects looking at multiple aspects of anthropology, including human evolution and primate behavior.

Biology

During undergrad I received my minor in Integrative Human Biology, which required me to take courses that bettered my understanding of human biology, physiology, and anatomy. I further improved this knowledge through my coursework during my first two years of graduate school, as well as delve into the research field of human evolutionary biology to begin constructing my PhD thesis. Lastly, I have TA'd numerous human evolutionary biology courses and taught human anatomy as a laboratory instructor throughout the course of my graduate schooling.

Anatomy

During undergrad I received my minor in Integrative Human Biology, which required me to not only take courses that bettered my understanding of biology and physiology, but also those that improved my knowledge of human anatomy. Throughout undergrad and graduate school I have taken and passed two human anatomy courses and one human osteology course, all of which involved hands-on labs that allowed me to better study the material. Since completing my graduate anatomy education I have been working as a laboratory instructor to teach undergraduate students human anatomy.

Not only did I pass all of these courses with high marks, allowing me to graduate magna cum laude, I also went back and spent time as a TA for some of them. Additionally, I volunteered as a field worker often during undergrad to help out with archaeological projects in Southern Utah, as well as conduct some of my own experimental archaeological research on tool stone which I presented at the Great Basin Archaeological Conference in my last year of undergrad. Finally, I spent time in Ireland attending an archaeological field school run by faculty from the University of Ireland, Galway, which I passed with high marks.
