Hi, I'm Julia! I am a professional vocalist, actor, and music instructor. Have you always dreamed of taking voice lessons? Are you an experienced artist looking to hone your craft? I hold a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from the world-renowned Eastman School of Music, where I studied with Grammy award-winning mezzo-soprano Katherine Ciesinski. I approach teaching music with the fundamentals at the core of each lesson, however, I believe that the student should have the ability to express themselves through learning pieces of their choice, listening to a wide variety of artists and genres, and developing personal goals. I am passionate about sharing the gifts of music and theatre with my students, and I love working with beginners! My lessons are always engaging, full of laughter, and cohesive. I'm dedicated to helping you excel at whatever type of music you choose, from classical opera to Top 40 hits.

I am an experienced performer who has played many lead roles, including Cinderella in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella and Clara in The Light in the Piazza. As a Resident Artist at the 2023 Ohio Light Opera Company, I was cast as Lucille Early in No, No Nanette and Ms. Krumholtz in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Because of my extensive performing experience, I am able to help with preparing for roles, upcoming auditions, or the next school talent show! I have experience teaching piano and guitar to children ages 4 and up and adults interested in solidifying the fundamentals! I am eager to help my students understand the building blocks of music so that they can utilize the knowledge and apply it in their future musical endeavors!

As a graduate of the Eastman School and as a professional, I have taken many acting courses, been selected as a participant in Masterclasses with working professionals, and performed in numerous roles in operas, operettas, and musicals. My main goal when coaching a student who's interested in acting is having them connect to themselves and the character being portrayed with comfort, confidence, and honesty. I can provide helpful tips to eliminate performance anxiety and ways to deliver a consistent portrayal of the character.

I have played the guitar for years and believe that the fundamentals are extremely crucial in developing a knowledge of the instrument and of music in general. Having an instrument to apply general music skills is very beneficial and I have found that playing songs makes learning more enjoyable! I am determined to get you playing as soon as possible and "seeing" the guitar in a way that makes sense. I have experience teaching beginners ages 5 and up.

I am an experienced performer who has held lead roles in many musicals and operettas, and I have performed as a featured soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, among other highly acclaimed groups like the Empire Film and Media ensemble. I really enjoy helping singers connect to their individual voices and repertoire through solidifying technique with elements such as vocal warm-ups, breath exercises, and character study if applicable.

Outstanding and flexible teacher.

While we just started with Julia, we were blown away by her talent, executive skills, concise and immediate communication. She was able to advise us on the go as to what the best course of action will be for our 8 y.o. son to make progress in playing piano without taking on learning of the pieces that are too complex. Julia showed a lot of flexibility and agreed to convert the musical pieces we were interested in into "easy play" while our son is mastering the sheet music reading. We highly recommend Julia as a piano teacher.
