About Kathy

Bio

Teaching is my passion and I am fortunate in having been able to teach a variety of subjects to students with a wide variety of academic abilities and interests. I have taught students at many academic levels, from two year colleges to post-graduate programs. At Bryant and Stratton College, a two year school, I designed the curriculum and taught a course on ecology and contemporary environmental issues. Teaching is my passion and I am fortunate in having been able to teach a variety of subjects to students with a wide variety of academic abilities and interests. I have taught students at many academic levels, from two year colleges to post-graduate programs. At Bryant and Stratton College, a two year school, I designed the curriculum and taught a course on ecology and contemporary environmental issues. At Rice University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill I taught undergraduate courses in laboratory biology and ecology. At George Mason University I taught ecology and the computer laboratory section of a course on multivariate statistics to students in the post-graduate program in Ecology and and Environmental Science and Policy. Finally, I have graded state mandated standardized tests in English, Math, and Biology.

I know my subject matters; I am patient; and I am able to adjust my approach to teaching to how the student learns and what the course is requiring. I look forward to being able to apply my knowledge and experience in one-on-one teaching situations.

AP biology fast and furious

I needed a tutor to help me review my entire yr in AP biology in days. She came with enthusiasm and got me through my final exam so i could pass the course. She was great.

Kathy has been tutoring my daughter for a few months for math. She has increased her grade significantly. Kathy is patient, kind, and engages with my daughter. She is great, and I look forward to have her continuing to work with my daughter through the summer into next school year. Kathy also communicates, and is reliable and makes my child comfortable by coming to our home. She is also in-person which has been imperative for my daughter’s learning styles!

Disappointed!

After having one session with Kathy and giving her a 5 star review, we book another session. She was a NO show! I called and text her the day before to confirm and several times the morning of to she was meeting with my daughter, NO RESPONSE! Very disappointed.
