Hello!

My name is Jacob Chapman and I am a trumpet and piano instructor located in Grand Rapids, MI. I graduated from Central Michigan University in 2022 with a bachelors degree in music performance. I have been teaching for about 5 years. I LOVE teaching both trumpet and piano. Usually, I teach one on one lessons, but I have lots of experience working with larger ensembles, running rehearsals and performing. I teach more than trumpet and piano too. I also teach production (both live sound and recorded) and music theory. I just love everything that has to do with music and I love to share what I have learned over the years with my students.

I teach students of all ages. I have worked with very young kids (aged 4 1/2) to older adults. Each student brings a different skillset and approach to the table, and I love teaching how YOU learn best. I believe the best teachers are the ones who are able to meet their students where they are and are able to bring them to where they would like to be. So the level and intensity of our lessons will be determined by YOU! (or the parent) Would you like to learn lots of technical fingering exercises? Are you wanting an extensive knowledge of music theory and history? Or are you more turned on by pop covers? All are worthwhile investments!

All in all, I am extremely passionate about music and my ultimate goal is to inspire as many learning musicians as I possibly can. My hope is to create and cultivate a love for learning and practicing. To open eyes and ears to new and interesting musical ideas. And most importantly, to help YOU find your musical voice.
