Excellent Tutor

I've worked with Andreea for almost three years now. I am far from a language learner (I remember none of my 5 or 6 years of Spanish in highschool and college), but Andreea's approach to language learning and language teaching (an emphasis on integrated speaking, listening, and reading) has allowed me to become conversational in Romanian in a way that I really never believed I would be. In additional to weekly/biweekly lessons, Andreea has provided me with resources that I've been able to use on my own to improve my speaking and, especially, my comprehension. Thanks to her help, I feel confident not only in my ability to improve my Romanian, but also to learn additional languages. That's something I never really could have dreamed of, and I'm very thankful for it. Learning a second language, especially as an adult, has been tough and sometimes frustrating, but if you're looking to do it, this is the person who can help you.

I have been studying Romanian with Andreea on a weekly basis since April 2020. She is an excellent teacher. When I began lessons with her, I was a beginner with limited knowledge of the Romanian language from a Pimsleur audio course. Since then, I made my first trip to Romania during which I was able to make a public presentation in Romanian, and I am planning to complete an upcoming research project in the country. Andreea has helped me to gain the confidence to take on these projects. She is always timely, her worksheets are fun, creative, and thorough, the exercises are cumulative, and her lessons include a perfect balance between conversation, reading, writing, listening to more advanced audio clips, increasing vocabulary, and understanding grammatical constructions. I cannot recommend Andreea highly enough. She is a delightful person, patient and dedicated. Her manner is very upbeat and encouraging. I have even applied some of her online teaching techniques within my own university teaching in classes that moved online during the pandemic. You will not be disappointed in your studies with this wonderful tutor, and I wish you all the best in your studies of this beautiful language!

Andreea has innovative ideas and makes tutoring sessions interesting as well as challenging. She is teaching us Romanian, and we look forward to each lesson. She uses techniques that we have not seen before, and gives us homework that involves many resources, not just books but also Romanian language television and writing assignments.
