About Don

Bio

I taught high school for 25 years, and loved it. I taught English, history and coached both boys and girls varsity basketball.
My favorite part of teaching from the day I started until I retired was the interaction between students and teacher. Tutoring helps me keep some of that flavor.

I am currently retired, and enjoying painting, making music, camping and gardening.

I was selected to speak at three graduations and once was Teacher of the Year.
There's no magic formula. I worked...

I have an unusual level of care and concern for students, and enjoy their interests and perspectives.

Every year I looked at my latest group of 150-160 students as though each student were a novel. The school year is 175 days; I felt every day was like turning the page of 160 different novels.
Students are unique, and I often learned from or through them, as we went through the year together.
