What engenders a love of math? How can the door to its beautiful and fun aspects to be opened onto the numbers and their qualities, then remain open through algebra and beyond? Or, how and why do fear and lack of confidence close that door? A child-centered, developmental key can open that door. I am happy to help your child develop a sense of confidence, enthusiasm and capacity that will permeate all math lessons and tests.

I have been teaching for the last 20 years, and I am well-qualified to assist you with your learning needs.

I am from St. Petersburg, Russia. I am a teacher who understands the way students think and perceive; this assists me in making mathematics understandable. I chose to become a teacher because I connect very well with children, and being a mother of four myself, I am very involved with my own children's education as well as that of my students. I enjoy teaching as it gives me a chance to interact with the future of the world and make a real difference!

If you refer me to a friend and they sign up for a lesson, I award you with one free session. If your friend signs up for multiple sessions, I will give you 5% off.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

This course is the foundation for high school mathematics courses. It is the bridge from the concrete to the abstract study of mathematics. Topics include simplifying expressions, evaluating and solving equations and inequalities, and graphing linear and quadratic functions and relations. Real world applications are presented within the course content and a function's approach is emphasized.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

This course extends the topics first seen in Algebra I and provides advanced skills in algebraic operations. Additionally, linear and quadratic functions and relations, conic sections, exponential and logarithmic functions, graphing, and sequences and series will be explored.
Calculus,

Calculus

Calculus is the foundation for math, science and technology; it paves the way. Calculus is a subject that requires success in previous topics. My degree is in Pure Math which means I studied calculus a few days a week for multiple years. After completing my degree I started teaching calculus. It was more then 20 years ago but I am still excited when I can share this beautiful material with my students.
Geometry,

Geometry

This course is designed to emphasize the study of the properties and applications of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. It includes the study of transformations and right triangle trigonometry. Inductive and deductive thinking skills are used in problem solving situations, and applications to the real world are stressed. It also emphasizes writing proofs to solve (prove) properties of geometric figures.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

We will explore mathematical concepts that are foundational for success in algebra including algebraic expressions, integers, equations, decimals, fractions, ratios, proportions, percents, area, volume, and probability.

The math sections measure a student’s ability to reason quantitatively, solve mathematical problems, and interpret data presented in graphical form. These sections focus on four areas of mathematics that are typically covered in the first three years of American high school education: Arithmetic, Algebra and Functions, Geometry, and Data Analysis. The Algebra section was recently expanded to include basic College Algebra.

Pre-algebra: 14 questions on basic numeric properties, operations and arithmetic. Algebra: 19 questions on solving equations (both regular and quadratic), inequalities and systems of equations in 2 variables, dealing with polynomials and factoring, and some stuff like complex numbers, exponent operations, etc. Geometry: 23 questions on coordinate geometry, lines, parabolas, graphical equations, slopes, midpoints, etc., and planar geometry- properties of shapes like circles, triangles and quadrilaterals. Trigonometry: just 4 questions on triangles and trigonometric functions (sine, cosine).

A well prepared and excellent teacher

Anna quickly assessed my daughter's needs and created a program to help her. She took the time to study the textbook my daughter is using at school and suggested other books that would be helpful in conjunction with that one. I'm very impressed with how thorough and competent Anna is. She comes from a long line of math teachers and it shows. As she says, math was her first language. So far she has done an excellent job of teaching the "language" of prealgebra to my daughter!

Statistics Tutoring

Anna is a fantastic tutor! I have always dislike math and done poorly in math classes, but with Anna’s help I was able to get a 96% on my midterm. I feel much more confident and comfortable with math now than I have ever. Thank you!

Absolutely Wonderful

Anna has been my son's geometry tutor for about a month now. He is currently a high school freshman. He was nervous and not very thrilled about starting tutoring lessons. However, after only a couple lessons, he is very happy he did this, he and thinks Anna is fantastic. He wasn't doing very well in his class, and was having a difficult time understanding the material. She's very patient and takes the time to explain everything to him in detail, which is exactly what he needed. After only a short amount of time, he just got a 93% on his most recent test. Needless to say, he and I are very excited that he received an A. I would highly recommend Anna to anyone who is in need of math tutoring. Not only is she very good at what she does, but she makes it fun as well. My son and I feel very lucky to have found her!

Great AP Calculus Tutor

Anna has been a tremendous help to my daughter in the 11th who is taking AP Calculus. My daughter's teacher is not doing a good job in helping her students under the subject matter. Anna has done a great job in the last 3 weeks to help shed light on a difficult subject. Thank you Anna.

I highly recommend

We thank Anna for her approach, patience and willingness to help. Thanks for the interesting lessons and ability to find the right words. Now, when we are far away, often recall our joint lessons. Thank you for EVERYTHING.

Extremely good teacher.

I've always struggled with math all of my life, and had never used a tutor before in this subject. However, despite my rather ornery attitude towards Calculus, I was able to improve what was going to be a D in the class to an A. I would recommend this tutor for anyone who wants their tutor to go above and beyond their duty in order to help you get a better grade. I couldn't have done it without her.

Highly recommend!

Anna worked very well with my son. She helped him to 'understand' the work and gave him a lot of confidence in his ability. We will continue to use Anna in the future. Highly recommend!
