Dear WyzAnt Students,

Words are my passion. The joy of being able to read is an adventure for which there is no competition.

Teaching the joy of reading and learning new vocabulary in English as well as French is my strength as an instructor. Preferably my students are high school students to adults of any age. Learning to read and escape into literature is a joy.

As a former ESL teacher at a local University, I taught ESL students English reading, writing and pronunciation. When given the class time opportunity, I introduced or discussed famous painters, philosophers, and classical literature from all countries. It was exciting to see young and older adults become enthusiastic about learning to read, converse and write in our language. My favorite series is Reading Explorer which allows the student to explore words, their usage in grammar, begin the process of English comprehension. I have beginning, intermediate, and advanced grammar books to help explain word placement, parts of speech, and their proper position in sentences. We will cover all English grammar for each level. In addition, I have other supplemental books, which include writing and vocabulary exercises. Whether you are a complete beginner or intermediate level English student, I have the texts available or you can bring texts that are part of the curriculum being pursued at your school. By reading "out loud", we will learn proper English/American pronunciation, and we will study vocabulary and learn to write sentences and paragraphs.
My former German students will be happy to speak with you about their success through my tutelage.
If you are needing assistance with your French school work, I am happy to help you master Beginning and Intermediate French. Mostly my students at a local tutoring school have been middle school, high school and college age. Bring your school texts, homework, tests and essays. We will polish your skills and help you obtain the A's that you are looking for to complete your language requirements. My Bachelor o

At Hodges University, I taught ESL for three years. Additionally, I tutored a husband and wife from Germany three to four times a week at my home for over a year. Reading, proper American/English pronunciation, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing and speaking fluency are the goals I hope to help the student master in English. Many years ago, I taught English as a Second Language to young French students and their parents who were staying in the country for only a few years. The parents wished for their children to remain in the French curriculum,in my reading class I opened the curriculum to some classics. My younger students read out loud in class A Wrinkle in Time and my older students, The Great Gatsby. It is a pleasure to introduce some of my favorite literature classics, as well as contemporary novels. Reading is an adventure for a lifetime, and it is key to language proficiently. Learning word meaning and proper usage is key to understanding the nuances of the English language.

At a local tutoring school, I helped students with beginning and intermediate grammar, vocabulary, test preparation and writing. My students have all raised their grades in order to successfully complete their semester's language requirements. My Bachelor's of Arts Degree is in French, and I have remained fluent in the language. During college, I lived in Paris where I attended Un Cours de Civilisation. We were immersed in the language along with other students from all nationalities. Hopefully, I can inspire my students to continue in French and visit Europe. Let's build and improve your French skills, in order attain confidence in your comprehension, vocabulary and writing in the French language. A bientot!

Reading

Reading is my passion. It is the greatest adventure in life, and you don't even have to leave your chair. Reading is essential to writing and understanding the written word. One must first read in order to write well. Comprehension is key. We must look for the essence of our reading and determine meaning, the point of the author's writing. We have so many talented authors, but to appreciate them, we must first learn to read and understand them. Allow me to open the door to better reading comprehension.

Vocabulary

I love words! They are magical and add depth and emphasis to your everyday conversation. Learning words is a pleasure and the key to writing better papers, adding enjoyment to reading and even having a more profound understanding of current events. Increasing your vocabulary will not only help you pass exams, but will unlock understanding to many words that were formerly daunting. Bring me your texts or tests, and we will endeavor to improve your grades and help you pass future exams.

My Bachelor of Arts degree is in French, so I know the rigors of learning a second language. My favorite occupation is ESL. There is no greater pleasure than observing the constant progress of my students. Learning a new language can be terribly intimidating at first, but gradually this fear abates and the student is reading, writing, and speaking English. I am fond of saying, "you know more than you think you do." I have found that to be true with all of my students. At Hodges University, I taught English as a Second Language for three years. Also, I have had students come to my home for tutoring. No matter what your level, I can help you attain success in speaking, reading and writing English. You will be on your way to fluency in a new language.
