About Elizabeth

Bio

I am a music enthusiast who not only enjoys learning about and performing music, but enjoys teaching it as well. I have played the piano since I was a child; I have also sung at churches and in choirs since I was a teenager. I have taught 2 children’s choirs; the first ranged in age from 4-11 years old, and the second ranged from 7-9 years old. I am currently working toward my Bachelor’s degree in Music with a vocal concentration. I am currently in the Chamber Choir and the Gospel Choir at...

I am a music enthusiast who not only enjoys learning about and performing music, but enjoys teaching it as well. I have played the piano since I was a child; I have also sung at churches and in choirs since I was a teenager. I have taught 2 children’s choirs; the first ranged in age from 4-11 years old, and the second ranged from 7-9 years old. I am currently working toward my Bachelor’s degree in Music with a vocal concentration. I am currently in the Chamber Choir and the Gospel Choir at Urshan College, the school at which I am studying.
I teach from a kinesthetic approach, allowing my students to have a hands-on experience. My method is interractive and allows for creativity and experimenting. I will listen to my students and will teach them in the way that they can understand best.
Our first lesson together will be an assessment, in which I will hear the student perform and I will just get to know them a little so we can establish a relationship built on trust. I will allow for free cancellation up to 2 hours before our scheduled lesson. I have taught piano lessons on Wyzant since late November 2022, and can teach from beginner to early intermediate level by ear, from chord charts, or with sheet music; I insure my teaching aligns with my student's specific needs. I teach every student proper technique including piano posture, major and minor scales, cadences, and arpeggios, and practice techniques to make learning the piano easy and fun. Patient and Engaging

We have had multiple sessions for my 8 year old daughter and from the first one, she has really enjoyed her time with Elizabeth. Elizabeth is patient and encouraging and my daughter responds to her instruction really well. One of the nicer things I have observed is that she knows when to end a lesson short, if my daughter is struggling to continue paying attention. My daughter has been a lot more diligent about practicing piano each day since starting our lessons with Elizabeth.
