Hi! I’m Rahul. I graduated from with honors from Brown University, where I studied Applied Mathematics and Biology, and am I currently a medical student at Yale School of Medicine. While conducting computational neuroscience research in college, I was struck by the passion my mentors displayed while teaching me. I was especially moved by how my mentors broke down complicated ideas, provided me educational resources, and made sure that I fully understood concepts before moving on to new ones. As a tutor, I aim to apply these values when teaching my students. I believe in encouraging high-level understanding of concepts rather than providing a script for rote or procedural memorization.
In college, I studied Applied Mathematics, which allowed me to better understand the importance of math in the world we live in. I have served as a robotics coach for over 2 years and have also virtually tutored math for GO Project NYC. I conducted live video tutoring sessions and worked with students individually to address their weaker areas. I also created lesson plans, practice materials, and class notes tailored to the individual needs of my students. Through GO Project, I have also tutored students in reading and writing.
My educational philosophy is based on the idea that everyone has the capacity to learn something new, and once they realize this potential are they able to realize the joy of learning. As a teacher, I hope to not only teach my students but also help them discover the joy of learning within themselves. I want to benefit my students as much as possible, and am therefore very open to any feedback or suggestions. Feel free to reach out to me to schedule a lesson!
