Hello!

Thank you so much for reading my profile. I am excited to help with your learning needs in any way I can. I bring a positive attitude, upbeat personality, and excellent work ethic. I am currently employed full-time at as the Director of Admission at an independent junior kindergarten through 12th grade school. I hold a Bachelors degree in Music and a Master's in Early Childhood Special Education.

I am an excellent editor when it comes to proofreading writing assignments. I understand how important each step of the writing process is and would help to break them down for any struggling students.

I am very well-read in the world of admissions. In my role as Director of Admissions, I interface with families and children of all backgrounds. I administer various assessments with students and determine their appropriate level. Working in the college realm for eight years, I obtained an inside look at how college admissions works. I am eager to assist high school students as they begin their college search process, working with them throughout this exciting journey. There are many elements that go into the college application process- interviewing, essay writing, test prep, application highlights, the list goes on- and I am confident I can ease any stress that comes with the extensive process.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or requests you may have. I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your learning goals!

Phonics

Within my masters program, we focused a great deal on literacy training. A large portion of this stems from phonics. I learned different skills and techniques to use when approaching phonics with children. Phonics are crucial in the development of future skills, such as reading, so it is important that students develop a strong understanding of how to hear and produce various phonemes. This will make it easier to distinguish between different sounds and associate similar sounds, helping to develop strong readers and writers.

From there, we worked on which subjects needed focus and the best angle from which to approach them. I like teaching people study skills because it really is the first hurdle toward accomplishing goals. I am currently completing my master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education. Very knowledgeable and well organized turor

Elise is helping my son to prepare for the SSAT and the upcoming HS interviews. She comes to class well organized and prepares and her delivery is very effective. Her specific comments on my son's essays as well as her general guidance are invaluable. My son also very much appreciate her advice and coaching on interviews. I would highly recommend her as a tutor.

Friendly, knowledgeable and effective tutor

I decided to go back to school 18 years after high school graduation and was woefully unprepared for an academic essay that I needed to write for my English Composition class. Elise allowed me to pepper her with questions, which she answered patiently and knowledgeably. She explained everything with examples and made sure that I really understood what she was teaching me. I really need to know the pattern of things and understand why things are done a certain way and Elise was able to effectively communicate with me in the style of teaching that I need. I learned a lot from my tutoring session and I'm glad that Elise was my tutor.
