I have been a professional photographer for over 30 years and have been teaching for the past 15. In my career, I have been a commercial photographer, professional artist, and college professor, and I am a former assistant to world-renown photographer Irving Penn.

I have extensive knowledge of photo editing, photo management and organization, Mac productivity software, scanning, and fine art printing. These skills are used every day in my artistic practice.

I hold a BA from the Brooks Institute of Photography and an MFA in Art from the University of Miami. A master in all aspects of film and digital photography, I am available for portfolio reviews, artist consultations, and technical and academic training. I can help you with your studies if you take a high school or college class. I can advise and instruct you if you want to buy a digital camera and learn how to use it. If you need to study or do research for an Art History class or need advice on collecting photography as a hobby or investment, I can help you.

So Grateful for Wes!

Wes has been an invaluable resource for me while pushing my photography to the next level. His knowledge of the technical stuff is amazing and he can explain it in a way that I can actually understand. He has helped me out of some real messes and I never feel like he is judging me for my need to repeat instructions or asking what I consider to be stupid questions. His awareness of everything involved in the world of photography is so refreshing as we can discuss everything from Lightroom to aesthetics and purpose. I count on and look forward to my lessons with Wes. I would be lost without his guidance.

A GREAT teacher!

Wes quickly identified my lightroom (lack of) organization as a messy "plate of spaghetti", which made me laugh out loud for its truth. His clearly explained both lightroom and an external NAS system that I had installed and identified a platter of possible solutions, with pros and cons of each. He made sure I was clear on how to go forward with my selected solution, and we agreed to follow up if I run into further problems. He is extremely knowledgeable and EXTREMELY good at conveying that knowledge in a clear and organized way by employing basic analogies that fit the context. He was patient, with a great sense of humor that made the session fun and productive. I'll be going back to him if/when I run into new Lightroom problems.

Great teacher.

Wes is an excellent teacher. He can not only talk about what and how, but also why of photo editing. He brings a great balance between tech and art. Highly recommended.

Patient, knowledgeable learning guide

He’s sharp, focused, experienced and situationally helpful. Forget the rest—he’s the best. Btw, this silly review box requires 160 characters. Okay, blah blah blah. Wes is a solid professional.

He knows his stuff and when I ask a question that he does not have an answer for, he tells me that he does not have the answer, but will find out and does so.

Currently working on creating slide shows for trips with my wife and a history of children and grandchildren. Wes has been instrumental in my work in this area. Great instructor. Very patient. Enjoyable to work with.

A++

We spent an hour cleaning my old hard drive, something I've needed to do for years. Looking forward to the next hour learning how to organize my 26,000 images on Lightroom. Right now they're organized by year. I look forward to learning how to work with LR catalogs, create new folders, use keywording, etc. Wes has a great teaching style. He listens well. Great teacher!
