I am a current 4th year medical school student willing to tutor science subjects. My completed my undergraduate degree at New York University, with a major in psychology on the pre-medical track. As a student who has successfully completed the pre-med track, taken the MCAT, and taken step 1 of medical boards, I have strong understanding of Biology, Biochemistry, General and Organic Chemistry. I'm passionate about life science and love to teach how it is applicable to our lives. The more real and tangible the material becomes is, the easier learning becomes. I believe that succeeding in any subject comes down to mastering the fundamental concepts and themes and I'm willing to take the time to teach them those very concepts.

My tutoring experience has been mainly volunteering though I have had the opportunity to tutor at different grade levels. I've served as a tutor voluntarily while in college for Boys Club of New York where I tutored middle school students in the areas of math and reading. In between my senior year of college and first year of medical school I tutored middle school students in New Haven tutoring science and math. And finally, I tutored high school math during my first year of medical school. These experience has taught me the value of being patient with students and finding creative ways for the material to come alive.

My expertise in the life sciences is drawn from successfully completing pre-medical course work in college, taking the MCAT, and conducting lupus research at Yale University. Within the classroom, a student learns theories but in a lab setting these concepts come to life. While working in a lab, I often had to apply what was learned in the textbook directly to my research. In between college and medical school I worked full time as behavioral health counselor I also understand how to apply the theories studied in psychology into everyday life.

Often times students find math and science daunting. I also did and struggled at first before finding success. It took focus, master

Organic Chemistry,

Organic Chemistry

I believe that my successful completion of pre-medical course work in college qualifies me to be a tutor. As a pre-med studies student I was required to take Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 simultaneously with an organic chemistry lab course. Within the lecture portion of the course, I studied various specific reactions, Sn1, Sn2, E1, E2 reactions and learned synthesis. Within the lab portion, all of these skills were put into practice. Additionally, I successfully completed the MCAT which contains a section on organic chemistry.

Pharmacology

My experience with pharmacology comes from my 2 years of medical school. In medical school, pharmacology is a major subject. It is also heavily tested on each step of our medical licensing board exam. I recently passed Step 1 of my licensing.
