Working with people of all ages, from children to adults, and helping them succeed academically is my goal. For students I bring an ability to reframe concepts, problems, and solutions in multiple ways, which is the secret to students getting a breakthrough and learning the topic, regardless of the subject matter. The other qualities that students have appreciated are my patience in their learning process, as well as a promotion of a love of learning. Study skills and pointers for exam preparation are the icing on the cake that both students and parents like.
In terms of my qualifications, I have two bachelor degrees from Berkeley, one in history and the other in information management technology. I also completed undergraduate coursework in engineering physics, advanced calculus, and chemistry. I thereafter completed two master's degrees: one in social science from Harvard with a scholarship-awarded thesis and the other in humanities from Stanford. I won a "tutor of the year" award in 2008 while tutoring in Palo Alto in my free time during my graduate program, and have privately taught English to Portuguese and Spanish speakers while living in Latin America.
I can tutor almost all subjects at the high school level or younger, as well as many subjects in both the sciences and arts at the undergraduate and graduate level.
I look forward to learning about how I can help you or someone you care about overcome their academic challenges and succeed.
