I am a Gerontologist with a B.S. degree in Psychology and an M.A. and Ph.D. Degree in Gerontology. I have extensive experience teaching and mentoring students at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate education levels. One of the most rewarding aspects of being a college professor is teaching, mentoring, and positively influencing students. My goal is always to provide quality and impactful instruction.

I connect with students by using methods tailored to their unique learning styles. I believe that being an excellent instructor, tutor, and mentor requires flexibility, self-evaluation, openness, and life-long learning. The needs of the students and changes in the field lead to the continual evolution of my pedagogical style. I meet the student where they are, and we journey toward their end goal together!

It is my responsibility to promote and encourage learning in a manner that increases self-efficacy. To do this, I implement the following strategies; 1) foster meaningful connections, 2) cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, 3) encourage knowledge application practically; 4) recommend consistent study and practice beyond tutoring sessions; 5) welcome and appreciate feedback on the experience, and 6) serve as a model (i.e., lead by example).

I actively engage in rigorous interdisciplinary scientific research and have extensive experience teaching courses and/or mentoring students studying Psychology, Gerontology, Social Work, Sociology, Public Health, Nursing, Communications, and more. As a professor and published author, I have extensive experience in writing and teaching writing at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels.
