I am a former kindergarten teacher who most recently taught youth ages 17-21 at a non-profit organization. I am passionate about helping students reach their potential and meet their educational goals. When I was a kindergarten teacher, I worked at a school in the inner city of Milwaukee. The majority of my students came from single parent low income households. The school itself had little money for even basic necessities. Because of that, everything in my classroom was either brought from my home or purchased from the dollar store or from Goodwill by myself. During that year, I had many challenges but I succeeded in helping my students make it through to the end of the school year and prepare for 1st grade. Despite the challenges that I faced through the year, I stayed persistent because I love teaching and making a difference in kids' lives.

I have been teaching at Great Lakes Community Conservation Corps/CERT School for 3 1/2 years. In that time, I have had the opportunity to both work with students in a classroom setting as well as on an individual basis. I love helping students reach their learning goals and really enjoy seeing students start to understand things that were once too difficult and frustrating for them to grasp.

I am patient and understanding. I take the time to build a relationship with the student in order to present the information to them in a manner that they can grasp. I give students plenty of opportunities to practice their newly learned math skills by using worksheets, visuals, and real life examples.

My passion is science. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Science and have a very good understanding of science concepts. I am inquisitive by nature and get excited about helping others understand how science applies to their lives. I enjoy using hands on experimentation and lots of visuals to teach science concepts.
