I have experience teaching/tutoring across the spectrum of ages, from elementary through university, in a wide variety of disciplines. I am well versed in teaching methodologies and am able to design a style best-suited to the individual student's needs to help him/her learn most easily. I have published both poetry and works of fiction, and have conducted research that has stood up to strict peer review for presentation.

I hold a B.A. in Sociology, with additional work in Anthropology, Linguistics, Political Science and History from West Chester University. I also hold both an A.S.and a B.S. in Information Science and Technology with additional work in Speech Communications and research in women's roles in Native American society at Penn State University. I have done my graduate work in Sociology, with concentrations in Political Sociology and Research Methodologies, at The University of Virginia, as well as additional graduate work in Philosophy, with a concentration in Linguistic Forms, at West Chester University. While at The University of Virginia, I taught classes in Introduction to Sociology and Criminology. While doing my Master's work at West Chester, I instructed introductory courses to Philosophy.

I spent three years working as a Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) where I had the opportunity to develop instructional methods designed to assist at-risk and learning-disabled students. I then spent a year in the company's Wrap-around program as an instructor where I taught classes of students with a variety of psychological and emotional disabilities in the full range of subjects. The students with whom I worked during these four years ranged in age from 7 through 17 years.

Study Skills,

Study Skills

I spent the better part of 31 years of my life in school, during which time I consistently achieved the highest honors. This was, in no small part, due to my study skills and time management. As a college professor, I helped my students to develop their own study skills; and I continue to do this with my own children so that they, too, may be successful in their academic careers. As an instructor in a wraparound program for at-risk and emotionally disturbed children and as a college professor, I helped students (middle school through college-aged) develop good academic habits so that they could advance themselves not only in the classroom, but also in life. These involved in-class preparation, classroom participation, the development of an environment conducive to studying, and proper study techniques. Additionally, I developed and taught research methodologies that can be used to better engage a student in the research process and, as a result, improve his/her writing habits and skills.

Political Science was one of my many minors as an undergraduate at West Chester University. I continue to be very involved in the political world, having worked on a number of political campaigns. If that were not enough, I helped to run the 1992 Gallup Poll with the Center for Survey Research at UVA. I have 39 credit hours of undergraduate study under my belt. Additionally, I have assisted professors at the University of Virginia in the publication of political analyses on a variety of topics.

Linear algebra--the foundation of algebraic studies--is the basis for my algebraic expertise. I have tutored students in this subject for more than 30 years, enlightening them on the various expressions of a line and the ways in which these equations can be used to build upon the study of mathematics. It should not be overlooked that graphing is a major part of this field and, spatially, allows me to relate to my students and show them real-world applications for linear algebra. These include demonstrations of the uses of linear algebra in everyday life, various career choices, and college courses that the student may be asked to take.

Pleasant, patient, and kind...

Working with Vincent was a godsend. having more extreme issues with math than most people, I am used to people becoming frustrated and unable to break things down simply enough for me to understand, or getting impatient with my difficulty in learning this subject. Vincent was wonderfully patient, easy to talk with, and didn't make me feel stupid. Additionally, he seemed to approach the material with a genuine curiosity of his own- like he was working on a puzzle. It made for great assistance. He's wonderful- I recommend him highly.

Excellent!

Vincent has proven to be an excellent tutor! He is always punctual, and he has really helped our son understand some difficult math concepts. Most importantly, our son, who initially opposed the idea of even considering a tutor, is very happy with Vincent. That, in itself, speaks volumes!
