I have been a teacher for decades. I began working as a vocational teacher to finance my undergraduate degree in History and Political Science. Later I became a social studies teacher and eventually a headmaster at the private school I taught at. During that time I gave computer lessons to the elementary students. After choosing to return to teaching, I had a growing interest in computer education and decided to obtain my masters degree in Educational Technology.

I spent 4 years teaching high school computer science followed by 17 years teaching computer science/engineering at the middle school level. I also spent 8 years as a university adjunct faculty member the same Learning Technology graduate program I received my degree from. On a separate note I spent the last 29 years running the theatre program at the district's high school, as well as the programs at two other schools for many years prior to that, spending a great deal of time with theatre technology.

I retired from teaching this past June and do miss teaching. I have always enjoyed tutoring as there is a satisfaction to working one on one with someone to master a skill.

Microsoft Excel was something I began using in it's earliest for as a headmaster. As it became more sophisticated I found more and more uses for it. I've often referred to it as the "Swiss Army Knife" of programs. I've taught it in high school as middle school for 21 years.

When I began teaching computers the various Office programs or apps were becoming industry leaders. While there are many options these days, where serious work is going on they still offer a vast array of powerful options and tools. I've trained teacher's and administrators and graduate students in effective communications with PowerPoint as well as using it as a tool for a number of other applications that have little to do with presentation! The same can be true of Word. As a theatre director/advisor the ability to use publisher to create various publications for theatre was invaluable.
