Math has ALWAYS been my favorite subject. Math just makes sense to me. However, I have developed methods with my children that teach math to people for whom it doesn't "just click".

I love teaching math and other subjects to children and young adults. I have two daughters who also sometimes struggled with math, so I have experience with utilizing patience to get the best results.

I graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. I graduated magna cum laude with a 3.80 GPA overall and a 3.90 GPA within my major.
My highest score on the ACT was 31--35 was the highest composite score possible at that time--with a perfect 36 in math. I once scored a 34 in science as well. My SAT math score was a 750.
I was awarded several full academic scholarships--Oglethorpe, Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, University of Alabama in Huntsville, University of North Alabama, Samford University--taking the one providing me with the most opportunity for growth. I was blessed to be the winner of one of 5 James Edward Oglethorpe scholarships for full room, board, and tuition, based upon a competition with 450 students.

I look forward to hearing from you and empowering you or your child to achieve better results.

God bless you,
Jason

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I am an expert in Algebra 1. In 9th grade, I sometimes even helped the teacher teach the class and often helped other students to understand what she could not easily explain. It might be my favorite subject. My semester averages were 99+.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra II was my favorite subject until I reached AP Calculus. It remains one of my 3 favorite subjects for tutoring. High school averages for Algebra II were 97+. I try to explain "why" the answers are the correct ones. The goal is to help the student understand and develop a good "thought process" for approaching each type of problem.
Geometry,

Geometry

Geometry is perhaps my favorite subject in which to help students. I won individual awards in high school math team competitions during my junior year due to my love of geometry. My semester grades in geometry were 97-100. Not everyone "sees" why certain rules apply to certain problems. Merely showing the student the answer is not the way to enhance performance. One must help them analyze the problem and find into which "mental bucket" it fits. My goal is to take all the formulas flying around in a student's head and help them learn to pick the correct one based on the information given. I look forward to helping your student improve their performance in geometry.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I am an expert in Prealgebra. In 7th and 8th grades, I competed on a traveling math squad. It helped me develop a love not only for getting the correct answer, but learning the best technique for getting that answer quickly. My semester averages were 95-100.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I am a big fan of Precalculus, although it proves to be one of the more challenging subjects to teach/tutor. In my junior year, I competed on a traveling Precalculus squad. It helped me develop a love not only for getting the correct answer, but learning the best technique for getting that answer quickly. My semester averages were 97-100.

Wonderful Tutor. Saved my son's Algebra grade!

Algebra was such a difficult subject for my son, until we found Jason! He made it all make sense to him. He was passing Algebra BARELY with a 70 and ended the school year with a 95 of his final! Jason is a wonderful tutor and he is very easy to communicate with!

Relates well with students

Jason was helpful in a relaxed, non threatening way. He helped us get to know him and allowed us to lead the session in a way that benefited us. We are happy to have found him close to home!

Very knowledgeable tutor

My son was very happy with the lesson. He said, Jason is very approachable and he could ask him all the questions he was shy to ask the teacher at school. Jason managed immediately to create a relation with our son and explained everything in understandable way, giving great advices.

Great tutor, easy to set up appointments

Jason was great with my son, we started looking for tutoring at the end of the school year. My son was having difficulty communicating with his math teacher, he was failing math. He and Jason connected and his math grade went from a F to a C. We hope to continue using Jason this next year.

Very Good Tutor

Jason was a really good tutor for our daughters. They were struggling in math and Jason was able to improve their scores by at least a full grade point from the time he started (middle of the school year) to the end of the school year. If we had engaged him sooner, I believe he would have made an even bigger impact. What we liked about Jason was his personality and constructive approach with our girls. Frankly, our girls can become frustrated and lose focus easily and Jason was able to establish good rapport, break things down where they were easier to understand and build off this into good weekly progress. They also really struggled with taking tests and Jason gave them some test taking techniques they applied to achieve a better result. There is no way they would have passed Geometry without Jason's tutoring. I would highly recommend Jason to anyone who needs tutoring for their children.

Good communicator.

Jason has tutored my high school son and as a result he now has a better understanding and working knowledge of math. Jason is very positive and patient in his instruction, with a sense of caring for his students.

Very knowledgeable tutor with a lot of patience.

Jason helped both of my kids in Math. He helped my daughter in 7th and 8th Grade Math. He teaches very clearly and make everything simple. Very knowledgeable tutor. Planning to use his services again in this year also.

Excellent tutor and very flexible.

Jason has helped our son with baseball pitching for the past few months. His season was very successful because of Jason's patience and ability to relate to our son. He worked with him on one set of basics first and then moved to more difficult pitching techniques. Jason was very flexible with our schedule. If we weren't moving back to Dallas we would continue to use Jason.
