About Chelsea

Bio

Hi I am Chelsea! I have been tutoring different ones with ASL since 2016 in person. Up until now, I mostly have been tutoring English as a second language with ASL mostly as secondary work. I also grew up with a hard of hearing mother, who mostly taught me English Sign Language, also known as SEE, which is very different. When I became an adult, we transitioned to ASL. Hi I am Chelsea! I have been tutoring different ones with ASL since 2016 in person. Up until now, I mostly have been tutoring English as a second language with ASL mostly as secondary work. I also grew up with a hard of hearing mother, who mostly taught me English Sign Language, also known as SEE, which is very different. When I became an adult, we transitioned to ASL. I found tutoring ones in different languages to be very enjoyable, especially when seeing ones progress so well towards their goals.

I have a Bachelors in Education from The United States Institute of Language and Clerical Studies which is in Florida. I also am certified with a TESOL and have been tutoring in English as a second language (ESL) since 2016. I have been tutoring ASL with people ranging from 5-60 years old and different skill sets. I have mostly worked with beginners to intermediate learners in Sign Language. This was usually one-on-one classes ranging from 15 minutes to 1 hour and I prepared the material. In English, I have been tutoring mostly children from 5-16 years old and usually with 1-4 students for about 25 minutes per class. I would say I work best with beginners and intermediate, especially with children, due to my experience.

Learning a new language is an amazing skill and experience. I hope to have classes that are engaging and educational. I am usually flexible with what a student needs and what their goals are towards the language. I hope I can help with that. My daughter says she’s great and so nice

My daughter took an interest in learning sign language and finding a teacher was difficult until I discovered Wyzant and found a teacher many states away who could teach on zoom and had lots of experience with kids younger and older. My daughter loves their sessions together and is enjoying the experience completely and finds her to be a perfect match. I could not be happier about having her teaching my daughter. Also, the price is really great and makes this so affordable. Awesome value. You can see I’m really happy about this. :)
