I am a graduate of the University of Miami, Florida, achieving a B.S. and a M.S. degree, majoring in math. My strength in teaching math is my ability to make abstract math understandable to students. Confidence is an attitude that makes a world of difference in learning. I will change my students' attitude toward math positively and provide them with math skills, so thorough that they will feel confident in doing math independently and successfully. Math Facts, Basic Operations with Decimals, Fractions, and Percent are basic requirements in middle school math. Measurement, Geometric Facts such as terminologies, area, perimeter, & volume of geometric figures, Probability & Data Analysis/Graphs in Statistics, integers, and an introduction to Elementary Algebra are all important subjects in middle school math as well. Fractions must be mastered prior to Algebra One because there usually has no time in the secondary math curriculum to review fractions thoroughly. Secondary math students often forget how to do fractions. Their vague memory of fractions often prevents them from getting an A in a math class because somehow fractions are used at one time or another. Success in secondary math depends on its foundation, elementary and middle school math. As an middle school math tutor, I assist students in their mastery of the basic skills, especially in fractions. Once this foundation is firmly laid, secondary math will be easy for them later.

My daughter took precalculus with Nancy during the summer. Nancy is a great instructor who was always patient and responsible. She always had a well planned out schedule and agenda before each lesson and was very detailed when teaching. Her lesson plans were well thought out and she explained concepts of each lesson thoroughly. My daughter found precalculus much clearer and easier to understand.
