My background at the elementary level includes 5 years of teaching all subjects at the K, 2nd, 4th and 6th grade levels as well as an additional 5 years of serving as a K-8 building principal, in which I had to oversee the delivery of instruction, supervise and evaluate teachers and help them to improve, if needed. In addition to my undergraduate degree, I hold an advanced degree in elementary and secondary school administration, and have completed additional graduate level courses in elementary reading, language arts and math. Furthermore, I have also taught graduate level education courses at various universities to students who either wanted to become teachers and/or were teachers working on improving their skills.

I have been an advocate for students developing good, quality study skills/habits from early on in their schooling. As a teacher and tutor, I have instilled that approach in all of my students and as a principal, I created before and after school tutoring programs that not only helped students with subjects in which they were struggling, but also at the same time, taught them to develop and utilize study skills that worked for them. Additionally, as an adjunct university professor of education, I helped teacher education students develop their own understanding of the importance of the development of study skills within students and aided them in creating their own approach to teaching study skills. I am extremely familiar with current strategies for effective learning, which include critical skills such as organization, learning/retaining information, reading and attention to tasks, and listening/concentration. Students can have a variety of learning styles and therefore, it is essential that they are guided in making the decisions regarding which ones work best for them, and that is where I can help. I have a Bachelor of Education and Foreign Language degree from Ball State University, as well as a Master of Education and School Administration degree from Indiana University. My additional post-graduate work includes advanced study in teaching language arts, mathematics, foreign language, elementary education, cognitive and curriculum development.

Jeff gets the Golden Apple

The Golden Apple is given to the teacher of the year in college. Jeff K is an excellent teacher who has made studying the Spanish language exciting and rewarding. He individualized my lessons, instructing me in areas in which I was deficient. .Prior to working with Jeff I could make simple sentences using the present and preterit tenses . Now my sentences are complex and I find that I can read and write in Spanish, and when I hear a broadcast in Spanish I understand most of what I hear . In June I was barely an intermediate student. Three months later I am an advanced intermediate. Although I studied hard, I believe it was his guidance, encouragement, and instruction that accounts for my progress. If I were not leaving the area for Florida, I would continue with his tutelage. I plan to continue studying Spanish in the south ,but it will be difficult to find a teacher in Florida anywhere near as good as Jeff.

Perfect!

Jeff does a great job of connecting with our teen and helping him improve in Spanish. He has a lovely demeanor and his instruction is clear and helpful. We're so grateful for his support.

Jeff was impressive!

Jeff began by asking me what I was struggling with in Spanish, and immediately began with the lesson. He arrived early and ready to help. He explained things in a different way, and began helping me comprehend, rather than just memorize. I know I still have a ways to go, but I feel like he can definitely help me get to where I need to be. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend him to anyone struggling with the concepts in Spanish.

Business tech refresher course.

Amazing tutor for my Google Drive tech needs / refresher course. Jeff is a great educator. Patient and knowledgeable. On-time and very professional. Patient while I learned, but also fast-forward when I was understating the program; Jeff kept pace.

helpful and knowledgeable

Jeff helped me get comfortable with my new lap top. Taught me some specific procedures I needed to know and helped me out with an online project I'd been avoiding. I will happily call on Jeff again as needed.

Spanish Master

My kid received a C in Spanish 1 last year and was moved to Spanish 2 this school year. Funny thing is, he admitted to knowing NOTHING from the previous class, so I decided to have him go back and take The class over this year. Over the last couple of weeks, my kid has passed every single quiz with an A or B thanks to Mr. Jeff. We will continue to have him tutored throughout the year and even for summer. He has gained so much confidence.

Señor K is a great Spanish teacher!

I needed an accelerated ramp up to Spanish before heading to Central America. Jeff delivered the goods. He provided a structured approach and all the resources I needed to study with him and at home. He set clear expectations for what I should do - don't underestimate the importance of that! He gently but firmly made me engage - open my mouth and just do it! That is so critical. He was flexible in his scheduling. And he was enjoyable to be with. I highly recommend Jeff - and thank him a lot. ¡Adios, I'm off! Now it's your turn!

Learning with Jeff

Jeff tutors our 7th-grade daughter on a weekly basis. And even though he has only been doing it for a few weeks, we are already seeing great improvement in both our daughter's overall grades and attitude towards learning! Keep changing the world, Jeff...One mind at a time!!!

Good tutor.

I met with Jeff last week. He is good and he did what was needed. I asked him a lot of questions after my lesson that he answered via text. He is very concerned with whether or not I understand, like "Do have any questions," "if you have any questions send me an email or call." In my opinion Jeff is good a teacher and good man. Thank you.
