Math and science were my favorite subjects throughout my formal schooling and I can help any student improve their knowledge in these courses by helping them enjoy the subjects rather than be intimidated by them.

What are my credentials? I have a BS and MS in Aeronautical Engineering and an MS in Mechanical Engineering and as a result I've taken many courses in math and science, the basis of engineering.

How long have I been tutoring? I have tutored for over 35 years, at the start finding students in a "word of mouth" manner from friends of the family, work associates and others. While in graduate school at Notre Dame I worked for the athletic department as a tutor for their engineering student-athletes. In addition to tutoring, I have taught several engineering courses at the college level and for the past 20 years I have coached youth baseball, which is a different sort of teaching from the classroom, but still involves guiding young people with a goal of improving themselves.

How will I help, will I do your homework? Doing your homework for you does you no good in the long run. I will guide you through your homework using examples that are similar to your homework in order to reinforce the concepts your instructor is trying to teach. Along the way, I will ask you questions as a way of testing your understanding. These tactics will help you when examination time comes as you will have seen many more examples of relevant questions giving you a broader base of knowledge and more confidence in attacking new problems. I can also create practice exams for you to work under test conditions in order for you to improve your test taking skills.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching and can improve your knowledge of math or science, improve your test taking skills and improve your confidence so you can take on more and more challenging subjects with ease.

MATLAB

MATLAB

As an engineer it is natural to use tools such as MATLAB to solve numerical problems. I use it daily when tutoring for quick calculations of anything from simple number crunching to matrices/linear algebra solutions. I also use MATLAB to write scripts to solve more complicated problems that need more than a few command line calculations.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra is often the first math course a student takes that they exclaim "I just don't get it". Algebra involves nothing new mathematically, just adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. It is essentially a method of logical steps to find an answer. It CAN be a fun course. It CAN be very useful in everyday life, not just for the math aspect, but for learning how to think through problems in a logical way.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

As with Algebra 1, I can help you get a better grasp of the concepts of Algebra 2, leading to understanding instead of confusion. We will start with simple problems that you can relate to and as you gain confidence in your abilities, move on to more and more complicated problems.
Calculus,

Calculus

Mastery of calculus opens the door to many fields such as science, engineering, business and medicine. My engineering background gives me a deep understanding of calculus and how it is used to solve real world problems, some of which can be solved exactly while others require the use of a computer to estimate a solution. I have extensive experience with both techniques and can help you on your path to better understanding of calculus.
Physics,

Physics

Physics is at the core of science and engineering. If you need help with high school or college level physics, you've come to the right place. My 30+ years of experience solving physics problems will get you headed in the right direction.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I can help you master the skills to be successful in your Precalculus course. My engineering background gives me a deep understanding of all math subjects, but especially calculus and precalculus courses. If you intend to move on from precalculus to calculus, I can continue tutoring you as you move up the math food chain!

Fantastic Tutor!

George really gets to know his students abilities and tailors his tutoring to their exact needs. He is thorough, patient, and enthusiastic. I highly recommend him!!

College Calculus

George is knowledgeable and runs great online tutoring - which not everyone is good at. Just because someone is a good tutor doesn't mean they can translate that online, but he does. He's been helpful for college Calc, is quick to schedule, and provides immediate assistance. He sends all of the whiteboard notes from the sessions so my son can look at information. Before they meet he asks my son what he his class is working on that week so he is ready to assist with that chapter. He's on time, reachable, and personable. Professional, knows his stuff, and runs great sessions. I highly recommend.

Helped to understand foundational principles of engineering

Even with professors' office hours and supplemental instruction from teaching assistants, it is beneficial to have one-on-one time with a subject matter expert. George's tutoring has been very helpful, especially in preparation for major exams.

George really knows how to teach :)

There is a difference between knowing stuff and helping others know stuff and George is both extremely knowledgeable and a skilled tutor/educator. Highly recommended!

Great Resource!

I wish I had come to the meeting with the issues I was having with problems not the problems themselves as I believe that would have been a more effective way of understanding the material. George clearly knew what he was talking about and is a very useful resource for engineering dynamics.

Great tutor!

George was extremely welcoming and made me comfortable asking any questions. Furthermore, the manner in which he explained the material was very easy to understand. I found our session to be quite fruitful, and plan on meeting with him next Wednesday.

great tutor!

George was a great tutor !He explained concepts and really helped my understanding of dynamics throughout the lesson.I had an overall great experience and will definitely arrange another lesson on topics I’m unsure about.
