I have taught English, Literature, Composition, and Creative Writing at both the high school and college level for several years, and the one thing that I have continually seen make a difference in students' education is direct, one-on-one instruction. This is why I believe in the value and effectiveness of tutoring.

In teaching high school, I find there is a deeper opportunity to both connect with and teach students. So many of my college students arrive in the classroom struggling to express themselves in their writing, to correctly employ grammar, and to both comprehend and critically analyze what they are reading. I have taught freshmen, sophomores, and juniors across a broad spectrum of learning levels, from AP-track honors students to level three students with special needs and diagnosed learning disabilities requiring differentiated instruction. I’m quite comfortable teaching core English classes, as well as English electives ranging from journalism to creative writing to digital storytelling. The combination of teaching college and high school the past several years has given me considerable insight regarding the expectations for high school students at the post-secondary level. As a teacher, my job goes beyond the classroom, and throughout my career I have served in various mentoring and editorial roles. Furthermore, my editorial experience, creative writing background, and prior experience in journalism could benefit students looking to explore both the arts and publishing.

I live in Bridgton and am available to tutor students throughout Cumberland County.
