I am an experienced Special Education Teacher and have taught in the same district for 17 years. My graduate degree includes certification in Special Education, Elementary Education and Literacy. Over the past 17 years I have worked with students in all grades K-5 within a suburban district. The highlights of teaching include: when things "click" for students, seeing children laugh and interact with each other and students that make growth in their academics.

My husband and I have two dogs named Yuma and Tala, three cats named Blue, Hoobie and Gypsy Jade, several fish and a turtle. I grew up near Central NY and attended college in Buffalo and Albany. I love to travel and have driven across our beautiful country from NY to California and back.

I have taught students from grades K-5 in the area of reading. Experience with many different curriculums, interventions and online resources to support the acquisition of reading skills including phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency and comprehension.

In my many years of working with individuals with special needs I have created numerous goals, provided scaffolded interventions, utilized unique teaching strategies and provided emotional support to students and families. I am well versed in working with students with many different classifications including ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities and Speech and Language Impairments. I have taught as a self-contained teacher and as a consultant within the classroom.
