Learning math can be fun with a tutor who is knowledgeable, patient and has a sense of humor. With 100s of success stories, I can help you increase your confidence and and improve your scores., whether you are focused on your academic performance of a standardized test.

I love to help students improve their writing. I'm especially skilled at helping students find their own narratives in crafting compelling college admission essays. I have won prizes for my writing both in college and in professional writing competitions. Since I've begun tutoring, I've come to appreciate how good grammar and critical reading can result in effective and persuasive arguments. In addition, as a nationally ranked Scrabble Player, I have a strong vocabulary, having read the entire dictionary twice.

I've got a BS in Civil Engineering from MIT, an MBA from Columbia University and a PhD from NJIT. The editorial staff at NJIT said my doctoral dissertation was one of the most readable they ever saw; I have a talent for translating complicated concepts into common speech.

I've worked for years as a traffic engineer. For many people, math is academic. But for me, I have used math to solve real life problems. Math makes more sense when you understand both the how and the why.

SAT Math Score 800, Verbal 720, ACT Score 36, GRE 169 Quantitative, 168 Verbal
Doctorate in Transportation Engineering, Professional Engineer.
Math Professor, award winning writer for high school, college and continuing ed.

I know Math requires hard work, but there is nothing like the satisfaction of getting the right answer. If you are ready to work, let's do it together. Contact me for either after school or weekend sessions.

Math Tutoring for SAT Re-Testing

Cheryl is working with my son as he plans on retaking the SAT in October. He's making inroads and I'm glad Cheryl is there to guide him. He's putting in the work and hopefully will make some progress during this process. Either way, we're glad that Cheryl was there to assist along the way.

Great Help!

Thank you so much for your flexibility, knowledge, and once again helping me pass another graduate level statistical research and research methods course. You are truly very gifted at what you do, and it is great you help others succeed! I plan on working with you in 2020 when I begin my capstone project for graduation, if you are still tutoring. Again, a BIG thank you for your help!

Gifted Statistician yet patient

To make a long story short, I was in dire need of a Statistics tutor after my original had a family emergency during final exam season. Luckily, I stumbled upon Cheryl. During our sessions, she was knowledgeable, patient and encouraging yet able to say she was unfamiliar with some information where she then went home and did her own homework on the subject. I am thoroughly pleased with the results I hope to work with her again soon.
