Hello! I'm Tom. I recently graduated from UC Irvine with a Ph.D. in Logic and Philosophy of Science. I completed my B.Sc. in Mathematics and Philosophy, with specialism in Logic, in 2016. In between degrees, I worked as a high school mathematics teacher. Overall, I have a good deal of experience teaching math, philosophy, and a blend of the two (logic). I've taught a range of high school math, including geometry, algebra, precalculus, and calculus. I've also taught probability, risk and utility theory at the college level. Logic courses I have taught previously include topics like critical thinking, symbolic logic, deductive logic (including LSAT style logical reasoning/argumentation questions), inductive logic, and set theory.
Math is a big part of every course I've taught in the past. I'm a firm believer that *anyone* is capable of doing math, and that it's my job to empower you with the skills, confidence, and autonomy to help facilitate that. This includes creating a space tailored to your needs, in which you feel able to learn, and in which you feel supported by me. If you have specific needs or accommodations you feel comfortable sharing with me, please do so. I am easy to reach, and will respond as quickly as I can.
Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions, or to schedule a lesson!
