Learning mathematics, physics and other sciences should be fun. My lessons are individualized to make learning not only practical but, interesting and exciting. My goal as tutor is to help students develop an understanding of course material, develop critical thinking skills and intellectual curiosity, and provide opportunities to excel beyond the normal course material.
For students that want to explore science and mathematics beyond the typical course material, I can help with self motivated projects, extra credit and science fair projects. Elementary and high school projects I have helped with include:
Seeing the Stars and Beyond
3D Computer Tracking of Hand-eye Motions
Participating in Simulated Medical Scenarios
Generating Electricity from Rain
Balloon Bubbles
I hold a BSc in physics and in mathematics and an AAS in electronics. I have done PhD studies in physics and medical physics. My career background includes medical and biological research, biomedical management, and teaching and tutoring of elementary, high school, and undergraduate and graduate students in various areas of mathematics and the sciences.

Special Needs

ADHD

ADHD

I have been tutoring students for over 20 years with about 20% of the students having been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. My methods include assisting these students in organizing seemingly large problems into smaller tasks and treating each smaller task as a goal in itself. I reinforce good work and behavior with immediate praise. I provide step by step instructions using visual aids like colored charts, pictures, animations, and other means that hold attention. Typically, these students increase their grade point by 1 point.

Engaging Knowledgeable and Kind.

William is my son's Calculus I tutor and he has exceeded all of my expectations. William not only has a strong grasp of the material, but he also has a unique ability to explain complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand. He takes the time to make sure my son fully comprehends each lesson and always provides real-world applications that keep my son engaged and interested in the subject. I only wish we had found William earlier in the semester. He is an excellent tutor and I highly recommend him."

Great Tutor

William explained complex concepts in easy to understand language. He made learning physics within reach. He uses questioning to help me clarify my own understanding.

Great, caring tutor

William has great patience and has taken his time teaching me statistics and college algebra. He seems to truly care about me learning rather than just coming in for an hour and leaving.

Great feedback!

Every time William tutors my son, he leaves feedback on the app that is very helpful. We refer back to it during the week to stay on target. Thanks, William!

Extremely intelligent and interesting person

I was very happy with William and felt like he handled my lessons perfectly. When the brains wires started to short he properly adjusted which allowed me to reassemble and connect the pieces. Thank you Sir.

Great Tutor

William is a great teacher. My daughter is steadily improving even after 2 lessons. He is very patient and breaks everything down so she can really understand. We will continue to take lessons with him.

Great Tutor! Easy to reach, easy to schedule with, glad I chose William!

William is a fantastic tutor. I do not often have time during the week to go through all of the problems I should and each time I ask to go over something for a second, third, or even fourth time he is more than willing to. William is great at tying in real life situations where some complex math is used. This is incredibly helpful for me. I give William a 100% AAA rating and would encourage anyone needing a tutor in Amarillo to get in contact with him!
