About Brigitte

Bio

I am a German and French native speaker from Switzerland with the Texas Educator certifications for Latin, German, French and Italian. I currently teach at the public school. I am a member of the Junior Classical Leagues, member of ACTFL (American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages) and AATG (American Association of Teachers of German)

I am a German and French native speaker from Switzerland with the Texas Educator certifications for Latin, German, French and Italian. I currently teach at the public school. My teaching method includes cultural specific 'speech acts', cultural ways of communication in the context of basic grammar skills. I will help with test preparations for AP (advanced placement college credit) and official national and international proficiency tests A - C, for study abroad and visa/passport application.

I teach foreign language skills by keeping the student visually engaged and verbally interactive in a fun and relaxed learning environment. Having worked with newcomers with the LI program gave me a great experience and an excellent tool for teaching second language learners from different cultures.

Before I started my studies at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, I was admitted to the School of Applied Arts of Zurich. The curriculum for my Master's Degree included Math, Algebra and Calculus, Science and Latin certification (KMK Latinum), with majors in Italian language and literature, Art history and minor in History of French language. I wrote my thesis about the Self Representations of the Leaders and Advisors of the Italian Renaissance and their educational programs, that were based on the Antique sources and knowledge. During my studies, I taught French, Italian and Art at the Public High school in Switzerland and French at the Public High school in America. I home-schooled my two children through Elementary School, since I wanted them to learn several languages at early age and at the same time led a parent group teaching German and Art classes.

Amazing teacher!

Brigitte is THE BEST french tutor I have ever had. I had to pass 4 semesters of college french to graduate. After 2 semesters of poor grades and poor tutors, I found Brigitte on WyzAnt and she honestly saved my academic life. She helped me learn the material (even better than many of my university professors), and she was encouraging and gave me the confidence to do well. She was prepared for each lesson, and even took time to make reviews and grammar practice tools for me. Also, she is the nicest person. I cannot say enough great things about her.

Amazing Tutor

I met with Brigitte once a week for my Spring semester in Intermediate German (4th semester). She helped me so much with my German language and my grades improved dramatically.
