Over the past six years, I have helped students with specific and general learning differences achieve their grades and test score goals.

I have a bachelor's degree in education from Texas Wesleyan University, and over 10 years of public school teaching experience. I have taught at the primary, secondary, and collegiate levels. I have a master's degree in psychology and special education from Texas A&M University in Commerce, and am working towards a PhD. in cognition and instruction. I enjoy working with students of all ability levels, and I work very hard to customize lessons to fit a student's educational abilities and needs. I also try to make learning engaging and fun, while still underscoring the need for hard work.

As an educational psychologist, I have completed many hours of advanced coursework, and I am well-versed in the current research regarding learning, memory, and instructional practices. I utilize this knowledge to identify underlying processing difficulties that may be interfering with learning, and to design a specialized strategy for achieving the desired results. In addition, I have a thorough understanding of effective study skills, organization, and test-taking skills.

Algebra is probably the most important math course that a person ever takes. Why is this? Because all subsequent math courses build upon the basic skills and concepts of algebra. Having a good foundation is important. I have been helping students with algebra for many years, and it is one of my favorite things to teach. I have studied mathematics education at the University of Cincinnati and online at Western Governor's University. I have been a member of the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics, and participated in national conferences. I am committed to helping my students see the beauty of mathematics, relating it to their everyday lives, and experiencing success.

Patient, Energetic, Direct and Knowledgeable

Our first session with Cindy was a great introduction and evaluation of my child's challenges with 5th grade math in an accelerated school district. She quickly ascertained problem areas, suggested a plan for improvement, and began working on a few math "tricks". I really appreciate Cindy's ability in engaging my student, dialogue with accountability, and instilling confidence. She is clearly a master teacher. After the first session, I have already observed the beginnings of a change in attitude towards math. We look forward to spending more time with Cindy for continued growth and improved confidence in math.

Knowledgable and patient tutor

Cindy is very good at breaking down hard to understand concepts like graphing with variables. She is also good at challenging my girls to do things themselves and to become proficient without help.

Great lesson!

Cindy is a fantastic educator! All three of my kids have special needs/learning disabilities, but Cindy is really patient and able to break the concept she's teaching down to the basics. It was so rewarding to see the kids have "lightbulb" moments and start to grasp the math concepts.

Learning can be fun!

Every time my daughter finishes her lesson with Cindy, she is excited about math. She learns so much and her confidence soars. She always says Ms. Cindy makes math easy to learn.

Not just educational but developmental background

Cindy definitely knows what she’s doing and has a lot of resources on hand. Showed us some tools that we plan on working with in the future. Figures out what kind of learner (auditory, visual, tactile, etc.) your child is and uses that approach. Extremely patient and very knowledgeable in a multitude of subjects.

Knowledgeble & patient!

Cindy has been a consistent blessing for our ADD teen's math and organization needs. Recently, when I had to unexpectedly travel out of state on business, she was even kind enough to visit our teen at her grandmom's house so that our daughter could stay on track with scheduled assignments. Cindy is a treasure. We started utilizing her skills for Algebra and have continued on through Geometry. Thank you, Cindy!

Progress As Promised

Cindy is doing a good job in her creativity to keep our student interested and making it fun. Our student is very shy and finds it difficult talking to strangers. She is very smart and talented when she put her focus on something. She is having fun thanks to Cindy that it don't become a hard task with a bitter taste in her mouth that may last into the future.
