Career Development

Over the course of the past 15 years, as a program director at 3 institutions of higher education, I collaboratively worked with the career development department as the students within my discipline were required to develop a portfolio containing a resume, cover letter, thank you letter and biographies. Additionally the textbook that I have authored contains all of the requirements of the how to and what to do in order to become gainfully employed, inclusive on how to conduct oneself during the interview process. Lastly I would present a seminar to all seniors and would allow them to role play during a "mock interview".

Proofreading

There have been numerous articles, textbooks as well as APA Sytle Term Papers, Case Studies and Thesis, in which over the years as an educator I have been requested to proof read, provide comments and suggested corrections based on content and execution. Proofreading by definitions is a process which entails, assessment of content, comprehension and adherence to a rubric to ensure that all material is appropriately shared. I believe that all of this is a skill that I have been involved in for many years.

Throughout my academic studies as a young woman throughout my high school years, computer technology was just being developed. Therefore all of the research, the papers, the thoughts that needed to be submitted to my professors were required to be legible and not in print. My mother had been an english teacher for more than 37 years, and instilled in all of us the need to be not just clear in our speech but within our written word as well. As a current professor now, although most assignments are completed and submitted on a computer, their workbook assignments are written. WIth that said, in the beginning of each semester I remind students that they need to incorporate correct posture which in turn will help with good penmanship, grasp their pencil or pen with thumb and fingers and carefully adhere to either the D'Nealian, Zaner, Bloser or McDougal handwriting methods (which I explain to them in class).

When living in rural PA, when our youngest son was in 7th and 8th grade, to assist him to get back on track with his concentration of education, we decided that I would home school him. During those two academic years (once approved by the state of PA), the homeschooling incorporated all of the required subjects, and on a monthly basis I was required to submit data verifying that the work was being completed. Upon the completion of those two years, our son was ready to re-enter the academic arena, whereas his academic skills had been perfected now he was capable of joining high school both socially and academically.

Excellent Tutor

I came to work with Karen after I realized I was failing miserably in my Anatomy class. As a nursing student this was very scary. After just one lesson with Karen I knew she had what it would take to help me with my course. And, I was right! I passed the course with a A+ on my final two exams. I went from mainly D's to A's all thanks to Karen. She took the time to explain things where I would understand them and changed my entire semester. I owe the semester to her and her help. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is struggling. She is free when you are and goes out of her way to supply study materials and anything you need. Look no further, she's the best!

Awesome Anatomy Tutor

Karen was awesome! For the first time, I'm learning study skills and how to study. She was great breaking down the information. I'm looking forward to working with her and passing my class! Thanks, Karen!

Excellent teacher for Italian conversation

Karen is an excellent teacher and quite patient with me. The format of SKYPE works very well for me. I am in the comfort of my home office where i can easily take notes and we are face to face so I can appreciate facial expression as well. I think this format eliminates travel for either party and is a more relaxed setting. Karen makes learning fun.

Great tutor!

My first lesson was excellent. Karen was able to zero in on my level. She also provides cultural perspective which is important to me for better understanding my relatives in Italy.

Amazing!

I can't tell you how awesome Karen is. She went out of her way after our first lesson (as a family of 4) to make sure we had the resources we need to succeed in learning Italian. She sent us study materials that she created with voice overs. I am beyond impressed!

An Engaging, Knowledgable Instructor

Karen has a very friendly teaching style. During this first session, she took great care in assessing my skill level and tailoring the exercises to my needs on the spot. Karen is fluent in Italian and extremely knowledgeable of the language. It was a very enjoyable first session and I look forward to many more.
