To me, learning is really about adapting effective learning strategies. These strategies must be based on each student's individual style. Then, learning issues can be clarified, evaluated, and resolved. This allows learning to be a fascinating, mind blowing, and interesting experience.

My subjects of proficiency are chemistry, biochemistry, algebra I and II, geometry, organic chemistry, and physiology.

My subjects of proficiency are chemistry, biochemistry, algebra I and II, geometry, organic chemistry, and physiology.

I started tutoring 5th graders in high school at the local Hispanic Community Center in elementary math and reading. Then, during undergraduate college, I continued as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for college chemistry for 2 years. From this experience I learned to adapt my instruction methods to best suit the learning style of the students.

After completing an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree with major in biochemistry, mathematics and chemistry minors (3.94 GPA), I continued teaching during my graduate school years at Weill Cornell Medical College. I assisted in problem based learning sessions for high school students and tutored Lincoln Douglas debate. Later, after finishing a few years of graduate coursework in 2010, I began tutoring elementary, middle school, high school, and college students in algebra & trigonometry, geometry, chemistry, biology, and SAT prep. I currently privately tutor for a few students in the NY-NJ area. I have a masters in secondary science education from the College of Staten Island.

I am currently a NYC public school teacher and I do not tutor students who go to Stuyvesant High School or who have siblings who attend Stuyvesant High School.

Thank you for your time.

Public Speaking

During high school I consistently broke into the finals round for Lincoln Douglas Debate ever since my first tournament. Later, I was trained at the Yale's Ivy League Scholars Program, advancing my logical thinking skills and sharpening my public speaking skills. During college, I became a hired judge for Lincoln Douglas LD debate for a high school. I critiqued the students' word economy, public speaking, and logical reasoning skills. During graduate school, I continued judging LD debate and later provided biweekly lessons for high school students to hone their diction, quick thinking & speaking skills, and argumentation style. I continue to judge LD debate annually.

Excellent Tutor! Great Results

Deame's tutoring was exactly what my daughter needed. She is knowledgeable, patient and professional. She knows the material for the NY State Chemistry Regents test as well as anyone and teaches it in a very efficient manner. My daughter was doing well, but was getting a few problems wrong on each test. Deame figured out where more work was needed, taught a few strategies, and these lessons led to a 100 on the Regents test. Thank you so much Deame.
