About Sue

Bio

A highly qualified and experienced educator who prepares students for the math, reading and writing portions of the SAT and ACT tests. I have been preparing students for their college entrance exams for over eight years. I am a New York State certified teacher, and I have also spent twenty years in the classroom at different grade levels. I started as an elementary school teacher in Brooklyn, but most of my classroom experience has been teaching Middle School and High School Social Studies....

I have been preparing students for their college entrance exams for over eight years. I am a New York State certified teacher, and I have also spent twenty years in the classroom at different grade levels. I started as an elementary school teacher in Brooklyn, but most of my classroom experience has been teaching Middle School and High School Social Studies. I have also taught Adult Education classes.

I am skilled and experienced at tutoring SAT Math, SAT English, SAT Writing, ACT Reading, Writing, Math and Science, Integrated Algebra, Social Studies, Regents Test Prep, ESL for children and adults, and helping students find their voice and become better writers. Because my experience spans various grade levels and different school settings, I have become very flexible with meeting the changing needs of my students. I am a warm and caring teacher with a sense of humor, which helps put students learning something new at ease.

One of the most effective ways I help my students is by presenting comprehensible material that stimulates different learning styles. As a one-to-one tutor, I assess how a student learns best and create lessons that cater to that students' learning modality. All my students experience success.

Because I am an ESL teacher, the state requires ESL students be given the option of having a regents in their native language, therefore I have become versed in different Regents subjects.
