About Scott

Bio

There are two areas of teaching that I specialize in: Reading Comprehension and Standardized Test Prep, especially the Graduate School admissions tests like the GRE, GMAT and LSAT. While I have been blessed with the ability to guide students through all of math's ABC's and 123's and how to use them on these advanced tests, there are many tutors who also excel at that. Where I separate from all others (in my truly humble and honest opinion) is in teaching the skill and art of Reading...

There are two areas of teaching that I specialize in: Reading Comprehension and Standardized Test Prep, especially the Graduate School admissions tests like the GRE, GMAT and LSAT. While I have been blessed with the ability to guide students through all of math's ABC's and 123's and how to use them on these advanced tests, there are many tutors who also excel at that. Where I separate from all others (in my truly humble and honest opinion) is in teaching the skill and art of Reading Comprehension.

Whether you need help with the English/Verbal portion of a specific exam or just want to/need to improve your reading capacity, please consider tutoring with me as your first/next option. The techniques that I use are 100% homemade and 100% effective. They are based on the most simple and graspable basics of the English language, and as far I can see, they are not taught by anyone else! They are the product of my having spent years in the classroom learning and applying these basics (I have 2 graduate degrees) and more importantly, over a decade of teaching one-on-one here on WyzAnt, as well as in traditional middle school, high school and college classrooms.

The GMAT mirrors the Business School experience in many ways. Students are expected to be fully prepared, to think and act quickly, and to basically make correct decisions and judgments. This is why the Quant section does not allow for a calculator or to return to previously resolved and submitted problems. And this is what my Quant coaching will get you ready for! Also, in the real world, preventable mistakes often cost people and companies sizable amounts of money. As a result, the Verbal portion is specifically designed to see which students are careful and precise readers and writers. I give all of my GRE students a personalized A-Z prep plan, with most of the needed materials included! My approach to tutoring for the quant portion of the GRE is actually pretty simple: First, here are the “A, B, Cs” and “1, 2, 3s” that we need to know and how to use them. Second, here is how we de-code GRE questions to make sense of them so that we can use the appropriate skills we just learned/polished. Third, practice, practice, practice… As stated in my general profile, my approach to the GRE verbal portion is truly unique and unmatched, in my opinion and experience. The LSAT is like any other Grad School entrance exam! Yeah, I said it. And it's true! The Reading Comprehension is identical to the RC found on the GRE and the GMAT. The Logical Reasoning is identical to the Critical Reasoning/Argument Passage sections of the other tests. The Logical Games section is of course unique and challenging, but I would argue that the math section of the other two tests is a far more fearsome challenge to contend with. So, of course the LSAT is difficult in its own right and it is amazingly competitive, so the student is best served with a near perfect performance! But still, a student can maximize their potential and increase their score through my verbal practices and techniques which over the past 14-15 years have proven to be exceptionally effective!

Amazing tutor!

Scott helped me tremendously while studying for the GRE. He helped me in both math and verbal and was able to break down difficult concepts in way that was easy for me to understand. I would highly recommend Scott to anyone taking the GRE or GMAT.

Great Teacher, Surpassed my score goals

Scott is an awesome tutor. He’s straightforward and very supportive. Ultimately, how well you do on the GRE is up to you.
