Teaching is my life’s purpose. Having taught the high school math curriculum at two competitive college preparatory high schools, and currently teaching at the community college level, I am dedicated to making math accessible to my students, and inspiring them see its value in their lives.
I have a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Education from Penn State University, and a Master of Science for Teachers (MST) degree in Mathematics from the University of New Hampshire. In my 21 years of teaching, I have guided students to their success in Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Trig-Precalculus. Additionally, I have a particular skill in tutoring test preparation for general tests, and for the SAT’s and ACT college entrance exams.
In my years of teaching, I have tutored students at all high-school levels, plus at the community college level. I make math accessible to my students by first offering the purpose of the work by giving them the big picture of where we’re going, or what the skill is preparing us for, and then break the concept down to make the skill attainable. We bring it all together with a collection of problems to further support their understanding. I find this approach to be inspiring and builds hope for the student for their success.
