Hello there, I’m Josh! I currently have a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance, and in June, I’ll be graduating with a Master’s degree in Music Performance from Northwestern State University. My musical journey began 14 years ago in Lafayette, LA. It didn’t take long for my love of the trumpet to take over, and as a result I placed in the District 3 Honor Band 6 years consecutively, I placed in the Louisiana All-State group, as well as earning 2 Distinguished Performance awards in the Lafayette High School Solo Festival. At NSU, I served as the Principal Trumpet of the NSU Symphony Orchestra, Principal Trumpet of the Wind Symphony, regularly performed with the NSU Jazz Orchestra, and led the NSU Brass Quintet. As a soloist, I performed with the NSU Symphony Orchestra, the NSU Jazz Orchestra, and I have presented numerous solo recitals.

I am currently a Graduate Trumpet Assistant at NSU where I provide weekly trumpet lessons and run the Trumpet Studio class. I am also currently teaching at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts since Fall 2022. Most of the students I currently work with are college students, however, I have experience working with students from all ages.

My primary objective is develop and maintain the fundamental skills necessary to bring out the "inner musician" that resides in all of us. Music is much more than notes and rhythms on a piece of paper. It is rooted in storytelling and expression that is assisted by technical ability.
